We have been providing medical assistance in Karbala in the form of medical personnel attending the annual event of Arbaeen where over 20million people have been reported to attend over the course of a week.

We are supplementing the local healthcare provisions with additional resources to cope with this mass gathering. We do this in partnership with the local health ministry as well as other aid organisations from around the world.

The care provided consists of:

• Primary triage

• Medical consultation of minor and major medical ailments, injuries, as well as emergent cases.

We are looking to assist further in the near future with a training programme that will produce first responders who are able to tackle:

• Medical cases

• Trauma cases

• Mass casualty scenarios
